Short Track Racing Without Brake Bias Gauges Is Risky
Know Your Brake Pressures, Or Know Your Wrecker Driver
With out properly balancing your braking system, you are at risk of either too much front, or too much rear, pressure bias. The ONLY way to know where you are at, is to plumb some brake pressure gauges, into your system. We just did so, and ended up going down two piston sizes, on the front master cylinders. You have some choices on how to do the balancing, with either, a inline knob, lever, or down at the pedals. We found that we could not get the fronts where they needed to be, by using the balance bar, down in the cockpit. 60 to 65% front, is a good starting point, for most race cars. These gauge sets are not that expensive, and well work the piece of mind that you will have, on race day. They come in either horizontal, or vertical configurations.
